3rd place Lingers welcome 7th place Bexhill to The Lair

After a job done against Oakwood away from home; we entertain Bexhill. A side we beat 3-0 away and was if not the, certainly one of the best away performances we’ve put in this year. A tight game we edged before the break, took control, cushioned the lead, hard work throughout off the ball, played the conditions and best of all... took a clean sheet courtesy of an Olly Moore penalty stop.

They’ve changed their tune since that day, a key spell of games picking up 4 wins on the bounce over the Christmas period, one of those a 5-1 win away at Wick! They’ve dipped over the last couple of games having been beaten by Storrington and Hailsham at home. They are now 7th, 1 point behind Mile Oak and Wick having played 1 and 2 games more respectively... therefore a potentially pivotal game in their last-gasp bid for promotion. A loss for them could put the final nail in the coffin and make it an all but a certainty of playing in Div 1 again next year. Bexhill travel better than hosting, taking 3 points more in 2 few games on the road. However, we boast the best home record in the league, just dropped 2 points and yet to be beaten. We come into this with a lot of confidence, still unbeaten in the league since October and picked up 10/12 points since the turn of the year, winning our last 3. One thing we do need to sort out is our starts to games, conceding 1st in our last 6 games just isn’t on, and need to find a way of getting off the mark quicker. No goal for Wetton last time out, hopefully, he doesn’t tie his boots together this week. The weather over last few days and today suggest the Lair won’t be playable Saturday afternoon, but we can always hope. Common travel to Oakwood, Langney to Southwick, so we’d be hoping for slip-ups there too. Up the Lingers
