We started the game quite slowly but grew into it as the first half went on, countering well and coming close several times. The second half almost started disastrously as Erith rattled the post early on but we withheld the pressure and came close ourselves moments later.
After exchanging shots for a while it was unfortunately Erith who made the breakthrough as they raced through and looped the ball past Lewis Lockyer, who’d had a phenomenal first half. We weren’t deterred though and we continued playing our game, passing the ball around and putting the visitors under pressure. However, our lack of a final ball punished us and Erith scored again with a tap in to make it 2-0.
Erith grew more confident and threw men forwards looking for a third but it would’ve flattered them. The final whistle blew at 2-0 and we had to feel a little hard done by after such a great performance that we hope to take forwards into the following games.
