After the to and throwing this morning with the double pitch inspection which unsettled The Lingers ahead of there 13:30 meet time and caused a few players missing the meet time we was welcomed by an army of Volunters who were all working hard to get the game on.
The Lingers started well and controlled the warm with a number of chances which fell short of hitting the onion net.
As the game went on a number of decision went against The Lingers which resulted in players becoming frustrated and no more so than Stephen Smith receiving his 1st card for kicking the ball away which prevented Bexhill taking a free kick.
The game continued which saw The Lingers continuing to press and force the keeper to make a number of game changing saves with 5 mins before half time Stephen Smith made a tackle which sent a Pirate flying and as a result on making contact with the player he was given a 2nd yellow card and then a red card and an early bath.
With The Lingers now down to 10 men the Gaffer was required to make a change at HT which was a tactical change which saw Jake Connaris subbed for Mathew Gates who filled the space left by Stephen Smith.
The 2nd half started as lively as the 1st half with The Lingers continuing to find the onion net only to either find their efforts saved of missing the target.
The floodlights struggled to start after at least 4 attempts and a number of 50p pieces collected, as the clocked ticked down The Lingers become frustrated and started to lose focus and caused ourselves our problems with giving cheap free kicks away in dangerous areas.
With 2 further subs and 5 minutes remaining on the clock The Lingers looked as a draw was going to be the fairest result however this wasn't going to be the case as with 2 minutes remaining a weighted ball was floated int the box for The Pirates No6 to leap above everyone else to secure 3pts for The Pirates.
FT Bexhill 1-0 The Lingers
