The game started off with the lingers passing and moving the ball around well. The tempo of the game was set early due to an early dismissal of the Steyning forward who went flying into a tackle not getting the ball which led to a red card.
The Lingers continued to move the ball well which created a few half chances for Brett Caiger which saw his brace of efforts either saved by the keeper or by the woodwork.
The Lingers took charge of the game and at the 25 minute mark the game died down a little and the pace dropped off while The Lingers created a few chances.

The Lingers started the 2nd half as they started the first, using the ball to good effect making it very hard for Steyning to get a foot hold of the game.
The Midfield duo of Jake Horn and David Heaton picking passes out for fun who were both running the game from the middle of the park finding the wide areas trying to get the two wingers Rory Woolston and Matt Burroughs to attack the goal, Steyning continued to chase the game and become truly frustrated with their lack of possession and their energy levels become to wain and as a result late tackles become the norm, it was on the 55th minute when such tackle resulted in a free kick in range for The Lingers to have a positive attack on goal.
The ball was placed down and was surrounded by a trio of Lingers with the bench shouting for Mat Gates to take the free kick which was struck beautifully by Mat Gates resulting in The Lingers leading 1-0.
A few changes were made all denied by Steyning keeper who stopped everything that came his way, it was time for a change which saw Brett Caiger replaced for inform Nathan Hull who made an immediate impact making runs in behind Steyning back four who couldn't handle the fresh legs of Nathan Hull.
The Lingers have seen how impactful Nathan Hull can be and it wasn't long before a perfectly weighted ball from Rory Woolston arrived at his feet with only the keeper to beat and its 2-0 Lingers.
The Lingers continued to cause Steyning lots of problems and it wasn't long before Alex Harizanov who played a through ball which Nathan Hull smartly converted to make it 3-0.
At the other end Steyning won a corner which got whipped to the back post with the waiting Kristian Mole dealt with it who had a quick day at the office.
It was a positive and comfortable day for The Lingers and those making their debut Stephen Thompson and Kristian Mole and the lads earned a well-deserved win.
