A rollercoaster of a month! Firstly we travelled down to Brighton and AFC Varndeanians awaited,

a game that saw us lose our first game in the league since back in October, no where near our usual standards, but credit to a doggy Varndeanians who plugged through the entire event. Must be said that we felt very undone by the officials, even the opposition were looking confused at times, however we only had ourselves to blame in reality.

We then took on a big challenge in Worcester Park in the Surrey Cup Semi-Final at Met Police FC. A team that had already scored well over 100 goals, and was clear to see why. A 3-5-2 formation designed to press the life out of opposition and camp them in. A first half that had them see much more of the ball however hadn’t created anything clear cut, and defensively rather solid all round looking to counter in wide areas. A strategic move to try and engage them higher, press, and play from the back in the 2nd half a ploy that really didn’t work out for us. The tie over in the space of 5 mins between 50-55minutes as they scored 3 times from similar errors. A 5-0 eye opener to what was a lesson to learn and not to forget too soon. A massive good luck to Worcester Park in the final, hopefully we’ve fallen to the eventual winners.

2 loses in a row, a first this season, and the long trip down to Selsey became monumental! Still in the driving seat for promotion, but not wanting the likes of Wick, Ringmer and Bexhill smelling blood. A reaction needed, and a reaction we gave. Inspired Dixie in changing room, and an all round improved attitude and enthusiasm for the game as Bobby put it was back! Nicky Dembele led the way with his performance as we got back to usual business.

6 games left, 4 home games on the bounce now over the space of 7 days. With the current fixture list, we could secure promotion with 3 more wins at home. Our main goal for the season and as we close in, we just need to maintain levels to do so! A big congratulations to both Little Common and Langney Wanderers who have already confirmed their progression to the Prem Division next year, and we hope to be joining you soon!
