Three years and six months is a long time to go between fixtures but we are back with a bang tomorrow at 2pm with a top of the table clash in the Mid Sussex League Division 5 North as we host Horley AFC Reserves. Lingfield FC 2 top the table after a 10-0 win last Saturday over Oxted & District U23 at a former Lingers home, Talbot Road. Horley won 5-1 at home to Reigatians V to sit third, with Reigate Priory C in between us. The bar will be open, food will be available as we look to establish our new community team in the village. The team has drawn its players from the local area and that remains the aim of this side so come along and give us a good start to our season. Over the next two weekends we have cup fixtures in a cup for the three Division 5 teams and then one for Divisions 4 and 5 teams.

At the tail end of the 2022-23 season we hosted Bexhill United in the Southern Combination Football League Premier Division with seven fixtures remaining. A 4-1 defeat was our last home result as we opted to play the remaining three home games at the 'away' teams grounds in order to complete the season on time as there are penalties for not doing so. The next season we made a temporary move the Horley Town's ground in order to allow drainage works to be carried. The works were delayed by having to seek planning permission and so nothing happened at the ground.

We began the 2024-25 season at Oakwood expecting to be there until the end of the year while works were carried out but then wet weather foiled that hope. The league forced us to leave Oakwood so we completed our fixtures at Whyteleafe. The drainage works were finally carried out in August 2025 as we started our season at Steyning. The advice was to undertake further works and avoid using the pitch until into the New Year but in the end we took advantage of a vacancy at Whyteleafe to see out the rest of the season there. With the new drains doing their job to clear away the surface water, technical analysis revealed that the soil was like a sponge, retaining water for too long meaning that we risked a backlog of fixtures towards the end of the season. The decision was made to move our First Team, U23s and U18s to Whyteleafe for the next two seasons which opened up the opportunity to set up the Lingfield 2 side.
