It set this fixture up for a juicy fight to reach the next round with Halisham wanting to get their own back.
The game started with Lingfield having the most of the ball and having a lot of luck particular down the right side with Matthew Burroughs and Sam Bell linking up well to create opportunities.
Lingfeilds first opportunity best to Thomas Darko where he found himself free at the back post only to fire his shot just wide of the target. However it was a warning for the home side.
The first half continued with Lingfield dominating play, whilst the Lingfield defence especially Charlie Dodd and TJ Stead showing excellent defence displays to keep the home side quiet.
On the 60th min Brett Caiger was brought on and Lingfield switched from a 4-4-1-1 to a 4-4-2. The continued pressure finally saw cracks in Hailsham’s defence when Sam Bell received the ball in the penalty box on the cut it back to Matthew Burroughs who struck the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal. 1-0 lingfield.
In the 83rd min Bell found himself in a similar position again. This time he decided to shot which ricochet off the defender and fell to Brett Caiger who again struck the ball into the bottom corner of the home teams goal.
The home side then had a opportunity to get back into the game only to find their efforts saved by Lingfeilds keeper olly more with a strong left hand.
In the 92nd min Lingfield delivered the fatal blow. Sam Bell again involved as he received the ball down the right. Kieren Curtis with great movement towards the front post left a gapping hole in Hailshams defence for Joe Kensett. Bell calmly crossed the ball from the by line leaving kensett with a easy tap in to make it 3-0 Lingfield
Lingfield look to continue their form onto saturday where they face Steyning FC at The Lair in their first home game of the season.
