Good evening and welcome to today's Surrey Cup quarter final match between Lingfield and Westfield Reserves. We have decided to switch venues for the game in the hope that by using the all weather 3g pitch at Whyteleafe we will be able to get the game played and avoid a fixture backlog as we enter the final stage of the season.
Last Saturday saw us welcome St Francis Rangers to Godstone Road, the first home game for quite some time. The game was a scrappy affair in bitterly cold conditions but eventually the Lingers saw of a stubborn opposition and scrapped home 1-0 thanks to a Chris Ramsome goal. Lingfield remain in third place in the table ten points ahead of Ringmer and eleven points ahead of Wick in fourth and fifth place respectively and only five points behind second place Langney so there is still all to play for.
Two upcoming games at Godstone Road, tomorrow evening the u18s host Crowborough Athletic in a Combined Counties league match and on Saturday the reserves welcome Erith & Belvedere. Lets hope the weather is kind and both games get played.
Finally a reminder that we will be holding a race night here at Godstone Road on Saturday 10th March after the reserves home game against Tooting & Mitcham. Proceedings will kick-off at 7pm and it’s £5 to buy a horse. There are 8 races and each winner gets a prize. There will of course be a well stocked bar! Sponsorships of the individual races are available, see our Events Co-ordinator Daren Maziere for further details. Many thanks to DEPhotoTV, Konak Restaurant, The Greyhound, Property Pot and Rosie's Coffee Lounge for stepping forward and sponsoring sone of the races.
Enjoy the game!
