Despite quite a controlling start from the boys it took Woodstock just 3 minutes to score a glancing volley from a corner, their first real chance of the game. This did however tip the momentum of the match in their favour and it took Woodstock less than ten minutes to double their lead with a neat chip.
Although we didn’t look to be creating enough initially we grew into the game and soon looked the team more likely to grab a goal, with Simon Wallace amongst others coming very close. However it wasn’t to be as Woodstock countered again and tapped it in at the far post just before half time to make it 3-0.
15 minutes and an attacking formation change later we came out of the changing room looking for a comeback and after 20 minutes it looked to be on as Chris Shanny’s cross was carried by the wind over the stranded keeper and into the top left corner to bring the deficit back to just 2 goals. Simon Wallace and Matty Warren both came close soon after but despite our best efforts we couldn’t get a goal, and to rub salt into the wound Woodstock managed to grab a fourth in extra time. Despite the disappointing result we had some good moments and we can hope to carry these into the last couple of games.
