Lingfield opened the game as the stronger of the two sides, creating several good chances and controlling possession. Despite some dodgy reffing the home side managed to keep Bexhill’s chances to a minimum, as well as having several strong efforts of their own. It was the Lingers who opened the scoring, with Bryan Harrison cutting in from the left flank and burying his effort in the bottom corner.
Just 5 minutes later Bexhill looked weak and the home team pounced again, with Lingers no.9 Mitev Gyurses tucking away a rebound. Despite taking nearly half an hour to register a shot on target Bexhill managed to pull a goal back just before half time. With Jordan Jenner left prone on the turf after a magnificent save from a free kick it was just a simple tap in for the Bexhill player.
Less than half an hour into the second half and disaster struck for Lingfield, as Bexhill won and proceeded to score a penalty to tie the match. This setback didn’t prove to be much of a concern for the Lingers as they managed to earn a penalty of their own, dutifully put away by Christian Londoño. Barely 5 minutes later they had another, this time dispatched by Romaine Atkinson.
Overall it was a great day for the boys to walk away with a win, but the real winners were Prostate Cancer UK as Non-League Day proved to be a roaring success.
