Strong out the gate, the Lingers had the lead within three minutes as Matthew Burroughs took advantage of the away side's poor defending from a corner to scuff in the first of the afternoon. Sam Cockerill rattled the bar barely 2 minutes later, and a succession of chances followed. It took till the half hour mark for the Little Common defense to be broken again, with Declan Smith slotting in from the edge of the area to bag our second.
Kerran Boylan had a few good chances in the following minutes, and TJ Stead came close just before the half time whistle but was denied by the keeper. More chances fell our way in the second half, and Little Common's attacks were few and far between. Cockerill came close again before Smith grabbed his second of the afternoon by knocking the ball over the keeper and in. Despite the Lingers' dominance we weren't able to add any more, although a resolute defense managed a comfortable clean sheet at the back.
It was an all round confident and commanding display from the Lingers both in attack and defense, both very good omens for the upcoming games in the weeks ahead.
