The game started slowly, with both sides slightly sloppy in possession, and this apparent rustiness allowed the away side to capitalise less than a quarter of an hour in as their number 10 chipped the ball across the goal and into the far corner. Never ones to be outdone, it took barely a minute for Kerran Boylan to run through and slot the ball past the keeper for an equaliser, and not even a minute later he had another, but it was judged to be offside.
Despite the Lingers looking the stronger side it would be Langney who scored next, as their wide man outran a handful of home defenders to put them ahead going into half time. Whatever was said in the changing rooms clearly had an effect because the boys rallied in the second half and after just over an hour Kerran Boylan struck again, poaching his second after Declan Smith's effort was spilt by the keeper.
Only five minutes later Declan Smith got one of his own after some fantastic solo work, cutting in and rounding two defenders before riding a challenge and gliding the ball into the bottom corner to put the home side ahead for the first time. Langney threatened again briefly, with a tremendous goal-line clearance stopping them from pulling level again, before they crumbled and allowed the Lingers to score two late goals: first Matthew Burroughs walked in the rebound from another Kerran Boylan effort and then in extra time substitute Jake Horn knocked in another rebound to seal out the game at 5-2.
