Lingfield started on top with the majority of the possession, however failed to create a clear chance. Unfortunately, Mark Barnard came off with an injury, forcing the Lingers to make an early change which changed the defence of the team with TJ Stead coming on.
With a throw-in deep into Storrington’s half, TJ Stead managed to cross in the ball which was touched down nicely by Brett Cagier, who laid it off to Matt Buzz. Buzz struggled to get it out of his feet, and created chaos in the opposition box. Eventually he was able to knock it away from the keeper and slotted it home. 1-0 to the Lingers just after 10 minutes.
The first half wasn’t anything spectacular and ended exactly how it started. With Lingfield having all the ball but failing to create clear cut chances.
The second half started like much of the first with Lingfield enjoying the ball. 10 minutes into the half, Kieran Curtis plays an over hit threw ball which ended up with the keeper belting the ball against the defender and rolling towards the goal. Brett cagier managed to get on the end of it and tapped in the second. 2-0 to the lingers.
Lingfield continued to attack Storrington as they were vulnerable at the back. With neat, intricate passes on the left side of the box found Dan Frith squaring the ball for Matt Gates to tap in home just 5 minutes after the second. 3-0 lingers.
Storrington did not create anything dangerous for Olly Moore to deal with, and they were penalised again when Dan frith sprinted down the line, beating the defender to the ball. As he approached goal he squared it once again to the oncoming Kieran Curtis who tapped it home comfortably. 4-0 to the lingers 10 minutes from time.
Full time: Lingfield 4-0 Storrington
A good result was needed for the Lingers to build confidence for the away trip to Loxwood in the Peter Bentley Cup.
