The Lingers showcased their new 3-5-2 formation to the home fans and they would have certainly been encouraged by the performance they saw.
Lingfield started bright and took the lead through the ever reliable Sam Bell after a good through ball from the right wing back on the day Matthew Burroughs. Lingfield continued to press for a second goal but were guilty of missing some guilt edge chances. At half time it was 1-0 and the game was still in the balance but Lingfield felt it should have been out of sight.
The second half started brightly for the hosts and it seemed like it would only be a matter of time before the decisive second goal came. Eventually after a host of chances the 2nd goal came from an unlikely source. Macca picked up the ball in the Seaford half and ran at the petrified Seaford defence. Macca left himself one on one with the keeper and cooly finished after taking on the whole Seaford defence single handily. Macca will certainly be happy that Mike Moore had the camera at the ready as the defender will certainly never score a goal in his career to match this one.
The 3rd goal came from a corner and a bullet from Sam Bell ensured that the game was out of site. Lingfield added a 4th through a fine strike from Jamie Bahkit who has certainly been a stand out performer of late and has been a real asset for Dixie Dean’s side.
Lingfield would be disappointed to have conceded late on but this did not take the icing of the cake for Lingfield who produced a fantastic home performance and look forward to welcoming arch rivals Mile Oak next week in a massive crunch fixture.
