3rd consecutive game at Home saw Lingfield host a stiffer test in Ringmer.

After 2 very convincing wins last week, retaining momentum in the campaign the objective. We welcomed Ringmer to the Lair, who arrive in good spirits after a 3-1 away win at Worthing Utd and an even better 7-0 hammering of Billingshurst in the league. Another side with a mixed start, with a couple of wins under their belt now, they're looking for a big push on! A number of absentees from last weeks fixtures due to various reasons, however with the strength in depth that not only just the 1st Team have but the Football Club as a whole through the Reserves and U18's, filling a side capable of the result was still possible. Into the starting XI came Tony Jenner, Jamie Bakhit, Dan Lilley, and Dan Summers; whilst Ben Connolly and Nick Davies filled in with Marco Mwanza on the bench.

Starting XI: T Jenner, C Wilford, D Graves (C), J Bakhit, A Tuppen, C Turner, S Hodge, J Horn, D Lilley, R Wetton, D Summers

A cagey start for both sides, definitely feeling themselves into the game, with no real retention of possession from anyone, a couple half chances, 1 from Ringmer's No.9 that Tony Jenner partied away, and then from Jake Horn and Rich Wetton testing the keeper with good link up with Dan Summers. The game's first swing was on 25mins, a loose ball in the Ringmer box latched onto by Dan Summers to suck the defender in, shift the ball and get brought down, Penalty! Which was comfortably converted by Richard Wetton for his 12th of the season, 1-0. Sensing blood, it was 2-0 shortly after on the half hour mark, a Richard Wetton corner from the right low to the front post met by the oncoming Jake Horn to tap home for his 1st goal of the season. Another half chance for Ringmer 30 yards out seen away by Jenner, and from what was a rather stale 45mins, Lingfield 2-0 up and hadn't really hit any sort of top gear. HT

Another 2 injuries to Alec Tuppen and David Graves, saw Bob and Dixie forced into substitutions, and as the 2nd half started, Ringmer took ascendency in trying to bring the game to Lingfield, and on the hour the got the earlyish goal they were after, worked down the right and as the cross came in, the centre forward couldn't quite get on the end of it and as the recovering Conor Wilford tried to get goal side, he helped the ball on and into the corner, unfortunate, however was coming. 2-1. As the game went into the deep end, it became attack v defence as Ringmer pushed and pushed for an equaliser, again, a few half chances fell but fairly resolute defending was on show. Into stoppage time and the kitchen sink was firmly out, and the biggest chance came in the 92nd minute as Ringmer sub No.14 got a free harder back post, possibly a yard out, still managed to drag his header wide. Last second of the game, saw Lingfield break and have Wetton wrongly ruled offside to probably kill the game off. Nevertheless the game finished that way, 2-1, and likely the first real swing of fortune in regards to getting the result needed. FT

3 on the bounce for Lingfield now, a doggy performance, and an appearance of character all round a positive. We host Steyning at the Lair in the League next Saturday, who have made a decent start with a few games in hand, but we'll be looking to make it 4 from 4 at home!

MoM to Corbin Turner; lots of energy, bravery and leadership all the way to the end!

Big thanks to all the support, and we hope to see you next week for more Lingfield points.
