A floodlights issue had forced The Lingers to switch from their Godstone Road ground at late notice and yet they settled into their temporary new surroundings in superb style against opponents who were enjoying a proud unbeaten recent run.
After only five minutes Lingfield had been unlucky as Pitterson found debutant midfield signing Joel O’Hara, from Three Bridges, whose near post shot rebounded to Jake Hill who fired against the far post remarkably, the ball going to safety.
Yet Lingfield trailed after 14 minutes as Alex Rich’s deep free-kick saw Jason Barton steal in and fire home past goalkeeper Dan Burnett.
The Lingers levelled three minutes later when Pitterson opened his account, showing splendid skill to control the ball, giving keeper Nicholas Collick no chance after captain Gareth Graham’s long ball had been cleared only partially.
Pitterson put the hosts ahead after 67 minutes, firing home from close range with a well taken effort following a cross from the left by the lively O’Hara.
The visitors equalised on 83 minutes through Sam Carrington’s header following another dangerous free-kick from Rich on the right touchline which exploited poor defensive marking.
Cue another explosive moment from striker Pitterson who completed his treble and ensured three points after 86 minutes, netting after Graham’s right-wing corner had not been cleared properly.
Indeed, Pitterson, who partnered debutant striker signing Jones Awuah, was only denied a fourth goal in the third additional minute, firing wide of an upright with just keeper Collick to beat.
Eventually, delighted Dixie Dean could start the cheerleading victory salutes as the players left the field following an excellent all-round effort, although it was the previously unsung Pitterson who took centre stage even though he did not go home with the prized match ball afterwards.
