The Lingers started the game in high tempo resulting in the home team making a few mistakes by giving the ball away causing The Hammers to put themselves under pressure which led to a brace of early chances for Lingfield however a mixture of last ditched tackles and poor decision making led to The Lingers becoming frustrated and bemused with their efforts not paying off.
The rest of the first half was an even battle with both teams probing for an opening. The only real focal point was the heated row between both sets of players witch led to the predictable David Heaton receiving a Yellow Card.
Half time 0-0
The second half started out how the first ended but as the minutes ticked by The Lingers took hold of the game By the scruff of the neck and started to take control of the game asking questions of both The Hammers Defence and Goalkeeper.
Lingfield were pushing harder and harder however not quite creating that golden chance, until a great move from back to front with Barca like one touch passing led to Jake Horn crossing in low ball which split The Hammers Defence which was expertly put away by the Rashford like forward Brett Caiger which sees him continue his Stella form.
From there on in it was backs to the wall for Lingfield as The Hammers came on strong chucking which seemed like an army of forwards into the attacking line. There pressure was close to paying off as they hit the post in the dying seconds, but the luck of the gods were on Lingfields side and they progress to the next round.
The Lingers have a free night on Tuesday as a result of Ringmer drawing today .
