A Quarter-Final draw sees us host Westfield Reserves for a place in the last 4.

Starting to feel as though these summarised in-looks to our upcoming fixtures are just in vain with postponed league games against Billingshurst and Bexhill in a row at home respectively, and tomorrow again looks like a doubt based on recent inspections, current weather and what’s to come; but no doubt we’re hoping to get out there and perform.

Our guests Westfield; have beaten Badshot Lea and Old Wokingians on their path to the quarterfinals with 2-1 and 3-1 wins. Whilst also producing some very good League form sitting in 3rd place, unbeaten since October. With 2 postponements prior to last Saturday, they did manage to get their game played on the weekend running out 3-2 victors over Chatham in the league cup. Could prove a big positive for them to get or keep some momentum going into this fixture.

To the Lingers... we hold some good form too, unbeaten in the league since October, unbeaten at home, 3 wins on the bounce; but with a limited amount of football of late, it’s more of a test of concentration when these games do go ahead. Lingfield’s journey consists of 8-0 and 2-1 wins over Ash Utd and Horley Town.

Both sides show some obvious form and set up for an entertaining game... something has to give as only one of us can progress. For us, a win could bring some huge confidence going into the home League game against Wick this weekend that could really push a leg into that promotion seat. So more than just one objective at hand for us.

For me, a clean sheet would go down as big as a win on Wednesday, been too long without one and we can’t rely on forwards to keep banging in the goals. It’s not even conceding a lot of goals... it’s conceding first all the time, hopefully, something we’ll improve midweek.

Hopefully, the game is on, and we see all of your support down the Lair for a cracking game.

Up the lingers
Sammy Clements
